Our Commitment to Responsible Investing

Our focus on ESG is woven into the fabric of our investment and company processes and procedures with every member of the Locust Point Capital team contributing to our ESG commitment.  We have formalized our long-term commitment to responsible investment by committing to becoming a signatory to the United Nations-Supported Principals for Responsible Investing commencing in 2020.

While the six United Nations-Supported Principals for Responsible Investing are voluntary, we believe that we already incorporate these principals into our processes and procedures and further, we believe that publicly endorsing these principals is another testament to our own longstanding commitment to impact and another way to measure and track our progress. These six principals are as follows:

  • To incorporate Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes;
  • To be an active owner and to incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices;
  • To seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest;
  • To promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry;
  • To work with the PRI Secretariat and other signatories to enhance their effectiveness in implementing the Principles;
  • To report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

We have embedded ESG analysis throughout our due diligence process. As part of our standard procedures, every potential investment presented to our Investment Committee includes a detailed analysis of potential ESG risks and opportunities. We track and report on several ESG metrics throughout our entire investment process.

Corporate Citizenship

We strongly believe that to succeed at incorporating ESG initiatives into our investments, we must also set a strong example within Locust Point Capital with our philanthropy and community involvement and our commitment to diversity and inclusion.  In fact, we believe that creating an environment that embraces employees from different backgrounds, experiences and locations is critical to our success. For each new hire, Locust Point Capital is committed to soliciting at least one third diverse candidate resumes for each open position. As a result of these efforts, one third of our senior management team identify as women and over 50% of our entire team identify as women, minorities, or veterans.
